When & Why is Mold Testing Necessary?

Professional Making an Inspection Professional Making an Inspection

There are over 100,000 different species of mold, but not all molds cause health effects. The health related effects with mold can be subjective to an individual's personal allergy symptoms and other health issues.

A new home owner may ask themselves questions like

"what is that musty smell?"

"I'm a bit stuffy in here; am I sensitive to something in the air?"

"I see potential water damage, do I have mold?"

Without the visible signs of mold, occasions like these might encourage a homeowner to test their new home for spores.

Maybe you are not a concerned homeowner & you are instead a proficient business owner. You may get your business premises tested for the safety of your clients or employees.

Some clients may simply be unfamiliar with mold & will want the full service, so that they know they are taken care of by the professionals.

Our tests are provided & handled by a full service environmental analytical laboratory, that specializes in mold analysis. Our clients have the option to choose between a SWAB sample; excellent for direct contact, and a AIROCELL sample perfect for whole spaces.

Inquire about your options for a mold test & get a professional with SERVPRO of Buckeye & West Surprise on site today!

replacing replacing

Restoration through mitigation is less expensive than replacing!

Mitigation requires quick action. The faster a SERVPRO
Professional arrives on-site to perform water cleanup, the better the results – including lower claim costs.

In the below photos a simple leak from a toilet tank affected flooring and walls. placing a tarp over the tile with a dehumidifier and air movers strategically placed saved a majority of what may have needed to be replaced if immediate action was not taken.

Water Damage Categories

Category 3 Category 3 Water

Water can create extensive damage in your home or business. When water damage has been identified on your property it is important to also identify the source of the water. A customized professional restoration bid will be based off 1 of 3 categories of water.

Category 1:Is usually water damage from broken pipes, an overflowing sink, or rainwater. Health risks are low in this category, but if left untreated this water may be exposed to contaminants and may escalate to category 2 within a 48 hour time period.

Category 2: In the grey water category the source may be related to equipment discharges, chemical wastes like detergent, laundry, and soap. These can be breeding grounds for microbial growth & once again if left untreated may escalate.

Category 3: This water is usually heavily contaminated water. It normally will appear dark in color & is not limited to sewer discharge or any water contaminated with bodily fluids such as urine. This water is highly infectious with over 90% health vulnerability when exposed.

Dealing with water losses & damage can be overwhelming, & that is where SERVPRO of Buckeye & West Surprise steps in.

Water in warehouse WATER

Most Phoenix homeowners might not consider flooding, but one significant storm can cause damage, especially during monsoon season. We are going to let you know the steps you should take if your home has been affected by water.

Take immediate action. The moment you notice water is in your home, call the experts. SERVPRO is on call 24/7 handling any disasters brought to us. Fast reaction time to standing water can save you headaches and cash.

After calling the experts; our team will take proper steps to fix the source of the problem.

Our next step is extraction. A large amount of standing water would most likely require us to use a truck mounted pump. Small amounts of water would be extracted with specifically designed dehumidifiers and air movers.

The longer water sits the more time mold has to form and when this occurs the material the mold has infested would need to be removed and replaced. This would also require use of antimicrobials on and around the affected area to prevent spread.
