SERVPRO & Mold Remediation
10/27/2022 (Permalink)
The technician utilizes a specialty HEPA backpack to assist in the remediation efforts
Did you know? Microscopic mold spores naturally occur almost everywhere, both outdoors and indoors; you don’t see them, but they are there. This makes it impossible to remove all mold from a home or business. Mold spores thrive on moisture and can quickly colonize materials such as drywall, wood, or other porous materials. Many clients notice mold growth in hard to reach or rarely seen areas, some also notice growth after being away from their property for a period, when environmental conditions were not properly monitored.
Mold itself can produce allergens and irritants and should avoid being handled without the proper protection. Some believe that mold can be simply wiped away with bleach or painted over; these are all common misunderstandings.
At SERVPRO, mold remediation is one of our trusted techniques to help reduce the mold spore count in a building back to its natural level. Some restoration businesses advertise “mold removal” and even guarantee to remove all mold which unfortunately, is not realistic. Here at SERVPRO of B&WS/W we use special machines to create a “faux” environment & remove & treat any visible growth so that it cannot continue to grow.
Before we begin this process, it is important to address the source of the water or moisture that contributed to the growth, this would include repairs done by a plumber to a pipe leak, or a roofer to roof damage. Without this step any damage that had been addressed could relapse.
After all work Is done; the property owner takes on the responsibility of limiting humidity and any elevated temperatures to keep the environment consistent, so that the condition does not relapse. Attempt to keep the relative humidity under 60 percent, between 30 and 50 is ideal, and increase the air temperature when possible. Act swiftly when water leaks or spills occur to avoid damage or mold growth. Increase ventilation and air movement when needed. Prompt action can help prevent sizable damage or any damage in general.
When you call SERVPRO of Buckeye & West Surprise/ Wickenburg we are here to answer your questions, and when you are ready to take that next step towards your remediation needs, our customer focused staff will be standing with you to guide you through the process. Additionally, you can trust we will get your property into pre loss condition from start to finish including your reconstruction needs.
SERVPRO's Professional Solutions to Deodorize or Neutralize Odors
10/27/2022 (Permalink)
Delivery of new SERVPRO chemical
What is an odor? How can SERVPRO reduce odors? Are you tired of unpleasant, lingering odors?
An odor is an evaporative molecule that dissipates once the source of the odor has been completely removed. Removing an odor could take a long time, but a SERVPRO technicians’ job is to ultimately accelerate the process & limit any inconvenience for our client.
Identifying & removing an odor can be challenging, in some cases, there may be multiple sources of an odor. Multiple procedures and a mixture of chemicals may need to be used until an odor is no longer noticeable.
SERVPRO has designed a variety of professional deodorization products to assist our clients with their odor issues. Some of our options are short term or simply “counteract” which will consist of a porous, solvent-based time release masking agent. These counteractants come in the form of fragrance beads or our favorite air freshening sprays; we have these in multiple scents such as melon, red apple, orange crème, and linen. When the aerosol is released, it will flow through the air and eliminate tough odors left lingering by the original source.
Another deodorant comes in the form of pellets made with fuller’s earth, which acts as a sponge to absorb and hold odors. These pellets are formulated to be placed in areas where continuous odor control is needed. These pellets are more ideal for projects in process & not as a permanent solution.
Some more advanced solutions include our water-based counteractants which can be added to our cleaning products to control smoke and other odors. Our cinnamon scented water base is formulated with a variety of neutralizers to control organic malodors and replace them with a pleasant scent.
Dipping into the deodorizing options which are normally applied with a ULV mister or thermal fogging machine to produce a fine mist/fog. These products incorporate exclusive neutralizing agents which will assist in eliminating pet, smoke, skunk, and tobacco related odors.
SERVPRO of Buckeye & West Surprise/ Wickenburg also always has our proprietary SERVPROXIDE on hand, which although does not have any fragrance added, it does work to neutralize odors while also providing a sanitary way to clean your home or business; least to say it's one of our favorite products. Other general cleaners we utilize do have amazing scents; for example, our SERVPRO Orange Plus is designed with a delightful citrus scent; this is a popular product for everyone on the team here as it is a very fresh uplifting scent, perfect for cleaning the bathrooms.
Deodorizing doesn’t end all with chemical solutions; yes, they do play a huge part, but most of these chemicals are applied with specially designed machines to thoroughly & efficiently distribute the product, like the ones I mentioned earlier. Our ULV fogger & the thermal fogger both emit concentrated fine mists that reach and saturate most nooks and crannies; the main difference being the temperature in which the mist is omitted; the solution is either considered wet or dry & produces varying outcomes. A good example of machines that do not incorporate chemicals into their usage would be our Titan Hydroxyl Generator which; this machine utilizes a photocatalytic lamp powered by a combination of humidity & a fan to decompose organic, inorganic, and air pollutants. Another suitable option for purifying the air utilizes a variety of filters such as a HEPA, and importantly for odors a Carbon Potassium filter; we refer to this as an air scrubber or negative fan machine.
SERVPRO is a go to source for solving your odor problems. Our trained staff has the finest knowledge in deodorizing. From fire to biohazard, eliminating odors is tricky, but we are always here to help & provide relief to our clients. Our phone lines are available 24/7; we are also always available by email with any specific questions, or if you would like us to provide a quote!

What are Water Categories?
6/6/2022 (Permalink)
Call the pro's who know the science to back up their work
As the professionals in water damage restoration, one of the first important steps in assisting our customers is identifying the water category. Essentially, identifying the water category is finding out the source of the water and its range of contamination. Other factors such as time, temperature, undesired substances, and location can affect the amplification of contaminants, therefor affecting the category determination.
With modern day conveniences in every part of our homes, water can come from all sorts of places. Identifying the source of the water is crucial in determining what steps will need to be taken to properly restore your property.
Below, we will identify the three main categories of water and their possible sources
CATEGORY 1
This category of water mostly originates from a sanitary or clean water source.
Common examples of category 1 water can include, but are not limited to broken water supply lines, tub or sink overflows without contaminants, appliance supply lines, melting snow or ice, falling rainwater, and broken toilet tanks & bowls without contaminants.
If left untreated, with time, or when other unfavorable variables are introduced this category of water can deteriorate into a category 2 or 3.
CATEGORY 2
This category of water contains significant amounts of contamination.
Common examples of category 2 water can include but are not limited to overflows from washing machines (with detergents, soaps, or other chemical contaminants), overflows from toilet bowls with urine not feces, broken aquariums, broken water beds, and discharge from washing machines or dishwashers (with detergents, soaps, or other chemical contaminants).
CATEOGRY 3
This category of water is considered to be grossly contaminated. Usually, water placed within this category is of a dark color and may have a very strong odor to it.
Common examples of category 3 water can include, but are not limited to sewage, waste line backflows, forms of bodily fluids, all forms of seawater, river water, or streams. Category 3 water may also contain amounts of regulated or hazardous materials, fuels, lead, pesticides, and other possible toxic substances.
These categories are an important way for us to identify how we achieve a proper restoration by controlling the spread of contaminants, cleaning affected areas, removing highly damaged materials, and drying affected areas that are able to be effectively dried. Depending on the category determination and the reaction time to the loss, some of these steps may or may not be required, which can greatly affect how much a loss is going to cost a customer.
Although, SERVPRO professionals will always use their RESTORE VS. REPLACE approach with your property. Essentially, we will save as many materials through cleaning and drying as we possibly can before deciding to remove them, and the technicians will always discuss these motives with you before following through with these decisions.
In any water loss situation, it is important to correct the source of the water intrusion and call your SERVPRO professionals for further assistance. Our trained technicians hold specific certifications in water restoration distributed by the IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification).
Our technicians will be able to answer any of the important questions, and properly address any concerns you may have throughout the process.
From small to large loss, and residential to commercial, SERVPRO of Buckeye & West Surprise/ Wickenburg has the experience, the training, and the supplies to get the job done right.

Everything from the office end experience; dealing with paperwork and payments, to the on-field experience where our clients are seeing the fruition of these benefits through performance.
MORE TECH
In addition to our unique SERVPRO only system, we have implemented other efficient ways of serving our clients. For our out of state, and always on the go customers, a digital signing method is always an option. This enables us to get documentation to anyone, anywhere, anytime via email.

NEW TECH
Along with this acclaimed system designed specifically for SERVPRO restoration servicing. SERVPRO of Buckeye & West Surprise/ Wickenburg is proud to announce the inclusion of DocuSketch™ into our restoration process.
What is DocuSketch™ & why are we using it, is what most of our clients will wonder.
It all begins with a single camera, but not just any camera. This special camera is built with two, 180 degree lenses on both sides. This camera allows a technician to record 360 degree panoramic view of an entire room in mere seconds. The technician has the ability to scan each room of a home or building within minutes. These pictures are then translated to a tour & an exact sketch of the property. During the restoration process we can create multiple tours to compare as before, during, and after comparisons for our clients. These tours can be shared via a link to our clients especially those who are out of state and inclined on progression updates.
This is proficiency for restoration at its finest for us. We are so glad to be able to offer any new or existing customers this option for their upcoming project. This addition to our documentation process will not only make it easier for our team but put more valuable time on the table to get your project done, especially when it comes to large loss scenarios.

SERVPRO Duct Cleaning Services
12/1/2021 (Permalink)
Brand new, intense power, high quality duct cleaning system.
If you have a modern-day HVAC & duct system in your home, you’re probably very aware of how important it is to your everyday life. You trust it to circulate warm air in the winter months from the heater, and cold air from the cooling system in the summer, which brings consistent comfort.
Unless you keep windows and doors open often, you’re most likely circulating the same air through the system that occupants continuously breathe in. Many people don’t realize this, and as the years build up so does dust, and other contaminants.
Our highly anticipated NIKRO Duct Cleaning machine raises the bar on other local providers. The entire package is specifically designed for SERVPRO to accommodate all sizes of systems for commercial & residential properties. Our gorgeous 5,000 CFM duct cleaning machine is powered by a Rolair compressor with a 9 HP Honda engine; accessorized with rotary brushes, compressor powered nozzles, and a 99.97% 3 stage HEPA filtration system. This is true SERVPRO style.
Let’s get back to some of the benefits that a duct cleaning may bring to you.
- Overall, a professional SERVPRO duct cleaning service will reduce the amount of interior cleaning to maintain a healthy home. Have you ever noticed a layer of dust build up on a surface right after you have already cleaned? It may be that those particulates have built up in your system and are now being blown onto your everyday items such as furniture, flooring, and bedding.
- Although dust is of viewable size; air ducts may also contain other harmful contaminants such as pet dander, mold spores, pollen, and other bacteria.
- Your ducts may also be home to absorbed odors from cleaning chemicals, pets, tobacco, or smoke, food preparation, mold, and paint fumes. Any consistent odors you may be smelling might be circulating through your home whenever you run your system.
- A heavy build-up of dust and other contaminants can assist in restriction air flow through the duct system. This means your system may have to work harder to circulate air though your home, resulting in a decreased level of system efficiency. A professionally cleaned system will help operate at peak efficiency and provide the most cost-effective performance.
Our professionals all agree our new service will bring our clients peace of mind to the quality of their living. We don’t recommend duct cleanings as a routine part of maintenance, but a professional recommendation is always available without any push; a business owning client may prefer this service regularly when dealing with high amounts of in and out customers, or in restaurants.
Don’t be afraid to give us a call, send us an email, or submit a request form through our website with your questions. The professional advice is free; we would love to assist and would appreciate helping you in your journey.

Cooktops Are Top Culprits in Cooking Fires
11/18/2021 (Permalink)
Stovetop Fire Aftermath
As the holiday season approaches, local SERVPRO fire restoration specialist offers stovetop safety tips for home cooks
From 2014 to 2018, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) reports* that U.S. fire departments were called to an estimated average of 172,900 home structure fires related to cooking each year. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, the number of home fires caused by cooking peaks to an average of 470 fires each day.
“These fires are tragic because they result in property damage, displacement of families, injury, and even death,” says fire damage restoration specialist Nicholas Leier of SERVPRO of Buckeye & West Surprise/Wickenburg. “The thing that compounds the tragedy, though, is that there are some simple steps everyone can take to reduce the chance of a cooking fire.” Nicholas urges homeowners to consider these basic guidelines for cooking safety:
- Never leave food unattended on a range or cooktop. That’s where 61 percent of home cooking fires start.
- Never cook on the stove top when you are sleepy or intoxicated.
- Use a timer to remind yourself that you are cooking.
- Keep anything flammable – potholders, wooden utensils, towels, curtains, food wrapping – away from the stovetop.
If you must leave the kitchen for any period, turn off the stove.
Holiday parties and large family gatherings that were postponed last year because of COVID concerns are great to look forward to, but may add distraction in the kitchen, warns Nicholas. “Cooking is such a routine part of our days that it is easy to become complacent about these basic safety steps,” says Nicholas, “but the statistics show that unattended cooking is the number one cause of home cooking fires and casualties.
Whether you are cooking for the holidays or simply preparing an everyday meal, it is important to stay alert and focused on what’s happening on and around your stovetop.”
